Anniversary of the Battle of Zarumilla
Armed forces parades and floral offerings in Zarumilla.
Between January 10th and 12th, the district of San Juan de la Virgen is devoted to the Homage to the Lord of Chocán, a religious devotion that attracts devotees from different basins of the region. The celebration establishes local pilgrimage circuits that bring the community together around faith.
The festival is religious and pilgrimage-oriented in nature: masses, processions and liturgical acts mark the three days of homage, in an atmosphere of recollection typical of Tumbes' popular Catholicism. It is one of the devotional expressions that energize rural life in the department in mid-January.
It is celebrated in the district of San Juan de la Virgen, in the Tumbes region.
