On January 11th, the town of Papayal - La Palma, in the province of Zarumilla, celebrates its patron saint festival, one of the expressions of Catholic devotion that mark the festive calendar of the region. The celebration brings together the local community and visitors from the nearby agricultural valleys.
Religious in nature, the festival is expressed through masses, processions and liturgical acts, in line with the fervor of popular Catholicism that characterizes Tumbes festivities. As with other rural celebrations in the department, the date is an occasion for community gathering and the reaffirmation of the traditions of the Zarumilla valley.
